Pear & Snow-Fungus Soup for Dry Autumns (Metal)
In five-element practice, autumn is ruled by Metal and associated with “dryness” — dry cough, dry skin, dry stools. This moist, white-toned soup is the classic counter.
This is food, not medicine.
Ingredients
- 1 dried snow fungus (Tremella), soaked and torn
- 2 pears, cored and cubed
- 6 dried red dates, pitted
- 5 cups water
- A few goji berries
Method
- Simmer snow fungus in water 40 minutes until gelatinous.
- Add pears and dates; simmer 20 more minutes.
- Stir in goji berries off heat.
- Serve warm. Keeps in the fridge 2–3 days.
When to reach for it
Traditional practice pairs this with Metal-time signals: a tickly throat, dry skin, or a low, held-in sadness in autumn. A moist, soothing bowl — not a treatment.
